after a long absence.
How are you getting along?
I do all this cheerfully.
An answer for an email is as follows.

The first line of perl just grabs the search string, and puts it into a variable. The rest of the code just prints each line of the code, inserting the searchstring variable into the correct spot. There are lots of escape characters of course. The other thing to note is that anywhere in the print statements where there is a tag, the MT part of the tag has been broken up with a ".", this is to take advantage of the fact that, before the script executes, only the tag actually looks like an MT tag, so it is the only one evaluated. However, after the print statements run, the broken up tags get evaluated a full tags. Now that it looks like an MT tag, it will get evaluated after all the print statements run.
